Power That Stays On

When the grid goes down, a standby generator keeps the furnace, refrigerator, sump pump, and lights running without anyone dragging a portable unit out of the garage. It senses the outage, starts on its own, and switches the house over in seconds. When utility power returns, it switches back and shuts down.

The install is as much electrical as it is mechanical. The transfer switch has to be wired correctly, the generator sized to the loads you want to cover, and the whole system permitted and inspected. Done wrong, a generator can backfeed the grid and put line workers at risk. We do it the way it is supposed to be done.

What a Generator Install Includes

• A load review to size the generator to your home.
• An automatic transfer switch wired to your panel.
• A whole-home or essential-circuits configuration.
• Coordination with your gas line or fuel supply.
• The permit pulled and the system inspected.

Options We Install

Whole-home standby. A permanently installed unit, typically natural gas or propane, that covers most or all of the house automatically.

Essential-circuits standby. A smaller unit and transfer switch that covers the circuits that matter most, at a lower cost.

Portable generator interlocks. A safe, code-compliant inlet and interlock kit so a portable unit can power circuits without backfeeding.

Permits and Inspection

Generator work is permitted work, and for good reason. We pull the permit, install to code, and schedule the inspection. You are left with a system that is safe, documented, and ready the next time the power goes out.
